Cullen Bay Marina NT, Australia (2021)

Cullen Bay Marina in Darwin, Northern Territory, has undergone a revitalisation to activate, cool, connect and beautify public spaces between the ocean and marina, Carmen King, CEO of the Cullen Bay Marina Management Corporation, told StreetChat.

“Our concept designer Clark & Granger worked closely with us to reimagine the precinct into a family-friendly, connected community space,” she said.

“When selecting furniture we looked at Australian manufacturers with a reputation for delivering high quality products that had a reputation of longevity in a marine environment.”

Aria Seats and Benches have been specified in the ultimate low-maintenance combination of materials and finishes with Wood Without Worry aluminium woodgrain battens and Textura frames.

The Wood Without Worry battens offer the look of real timber with the durability of metal in a coastal environment.

The battens are in the popular Spotted Gum, with Textura Woodland Grey frames – the two together provide highly-durable, low maintenance furniture that only requires a wipe down with soapy water when necessary.

Wood Without Worry additionally does not get as hot as quickly as oiled timber battens, important for the warm Darwin climate.

Lake Macquarie City Council refreshed the area with new plazas, extended gardens, viewing areas, a fitness trail and sculpture walk. Visitors can meet at the first artwork, ‘Beach Blossom,’ at Eleebana Lions Park, and walk or ride a bicycle, stopping off at sculptures on the way to the Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery. Artworks on the trail include a flying pig, a Buddhist monk, a mauve bust of Charles Darwin and a hooded figure surveying the view across the lake. The foreshore is furnished with seating and tables designed not only to look good and provide comfort for users, but also to minimise maintenance and whole-of-life …

Moore Street, Canberra

Aria Seats and Simple Bins have been optimised for long-term maintenance and to complement the shape of the space at 12 Moore Street, Canberra. The Aria two-seaters and curved configurations fit around planter corners with 90 degree connector modules, and in sheltered nooks. The round 80L Simple Bins match the seats, featuring Textura Monument frames and aluminium woodgrain Spotted Gum battens. These batten and frame materials are an ideal combination for easy cleaning and maintenance. The textured and anti-mar Textura powdercoat range is highly recommended for bins, as it is easy to wipe clean. Woodgrain aluminium provides a warm timber look – recommended for places with cold climates such as Canberra – without the need for regular oiling. The refurbishment of this ground floor entrance has “modernised and refreshed” the …
